Local self-government in Kazakhstan is a local government system based on the participation of citizens in solving issues of local importance. In the context of Kazakhstan, local self-government plays an important role in ensuring democracy, improving the quality of life, and implementing socio-economic programs. In the country, local government is carried out through bodies such as akimats (local executive bodies), as well as representative bodies, including maslikhats (local representative assemblies). Legislative initiatives and reforms aimed at improving the work of these bodies help to increase the level of responsibility and transparency of governance. Local self-government is also important for addressing issues of social infrastructure, law enforcement and improving the standard of living of the population, which makes it possible to more effectively take into account the interests of local communities in the process of public administration.

Special attention is paid to some issues of local government reform, as well as the role of civil society. The results of the study can be used to develop recommendations for improving the local government system.
