Abstract

This article discusses the problems of legal stereotypes and their impact on understanding the essence of law. Legal stereotypes as an important component of legal culture, which affect the internal attitude of human activity and the levels of legal consciousness and thinking are analyzed as a result of the complex interaction of various factors and processes. According to the author, this approach to the study of legal stereotypes will allow a deeper understanding of the reason and mechanism of their functioning in the mental world of people.
Also, the article distinguishes between the concepts of “legal stereotype” and “stereotypes of legal attitudes”, since they relate to various aspects of perception and understanding of law.
The work analyzes the relationship of legal mentality with legal stereotypes, their relationship is presented as a dialectic of essence and phenomena that manifest themselves at the level of human behavior. In the course of the study, the author concludes that the study of legal stereotypes
helps to overcome the biased attitudes of citizens towards law enforcement agencies and the courts
and increase their confidence in the legal system as a whole.
